Fort Worth Childrens Museum

Guess who filled his potty chart up.
He is getting so big, love you Ryker.

Fun dinosaur slide in the gift shop.

The boys used these water guns to make the targets spin and move.

Look out Canon there's a dinosaur behind you!

Ryker filled his Potty Chart and choose to go to the museum as his prize. He is doing really well at listening to his body and wears underware all day (even through naptime)everyday, no matter where we go and keeps them dry almost all the time, mostly I am proud that he is the one who lets us know when he needs to go and not the other way around. He refuses to wear a pull up so I have to wait til he is asleep at night to sneak one on for night time. I think with the way he demands a drink everynight at bedtime it will be awhile before he stays dry through the night but he is not even 2 and a half yet so I am not pushing it. Good Job Ryker, my big boy!

Playground

Ryker always wants to ride his bike, because Canon does but he just hasn't gotten the hang of pedaling so this is how we roll (if I actually want to get somewhere)
Can you see Canon?- this is my view from one of the "towers"

Oh mom you're so silly

Ryker thought the swing was really fun.

Going over the bridge. Its the longer way but the kids like it.

We had a surprisingly cool day Tuesday it was only 80* in the morning so me and the kids walked over to the playground and spent all morning there. We had a lot of fun.

Say What?

Oh boy my ears are burning...If you haven't heard yet (we only just found out today but please try to keep up ) We got the OK to transfer to Utah. Lets go back...last week the district manager over Utah called Travis up and asked if he wanted to work over there, that they have some openings, he even said that it would be a great career move (inward chuckle, sigh) and so when can you come out and meet with me...well now wouldn't this have been nice a few months ago ; ) Transferring is done a lot within Firestone and isn't really a big deal, but Travis hasn't worked here very long and his District Manager has already said that he is putting him through the operational manager training in September. That's a bit awkward... "hey thanks for believing in me and giving me this opportunity, but I think I will pass" I know for some people this wouldn't be their choice, that they would stay and get promoted-but it was our choice to do the family thing, our kids miss their cousins and friends and I know at least a few people miss me terribly as I do for them : ) Right now moving is a lateral move later if the opportunity came again it might not be. Travis is good at his job and I know that he will have the same opportunities, maybe not as fast, and that's OK. In this day and age it's nice to have a job at all, and one you actually like-even better. Our life is crazy but it's ours and we love it.

Kenna

My bathing beauty. She won't always be this little, so cute!

She really enjoys a bubble bath!
Silly girl was all over the place.

This is the first picture that I was able to get of Kenna up on her knees, way to go baby girl! I was looking for something for her to wear (messy spit up baby) and I turn around to this, glad my camera was in my room. I was just talking to my sister the other day saying that I think it will be a while before she gets anywhere close to crawling because she never goes on her knees and while I was on the phone she proved me wrong. She got on her knees and arched her back and pushed her head across her mattress until she fell over! I can't believe the things she does she is a determined little girl.

Summer Bummer

Today was cooler than the past week, it was 95 F with humidity at about 60% making it feel like 103 F so that's an improvement over the 113 F. With that said we took the opportunity to go outside today and play in the hose, we washed the car and played water guns for a little while before I decided it was getting too hot out-I know I'm no fun, but man it's hot.

I am a child of God

Search Ponder and Pray
This is what I saw during rest time...not his Clone Wars books, wow.

My mom sent out a copy of the Book of Mormon Stories. Canon and I have read from it every night, and tonight we finished it, he wants to start over from the beginning tomorrow. When we started last month Canon was not interested, he wanted to read only Star Wars books, but I read to him a little every night anyway and now he is always asking if we can read one more story. We talk about whats going on in the story and I go into extra details for him so that he really understands what we are reading. He has learned a lot from his "scriptures" and I am so impressed with his nightly prayers, tonight my 4 year old thanked Heavenly Father for sending Jesus and that He lives. I am so grateful for these sweet memories. When we go out to Utah next month I am going to pick up the rest of the scripture stories books-I'm so excited!

Sitting Pretty

Look Mom no hands!
Look what Kenna can do! She can sit for short periods of time... and then she will start to lean forward until she works her way onto her tummy, but still it's a start.

It is surprisingly difficult to get these three into the same picture and at least look in the right direction for me, so to me this is a great picture that I had to share!

Swimming

The boys are ready to go!

That's Canon in there.
Ryker liked these water shooters and the slide.
Canon and Daddy relaxing
Travis had today off so we went to the pool. It was a lot of fun and the kids had a blast...Mommy and Daddy got sunburned! We were good parents and sun blocked the kids and even reapplied but not so good to our own skin, we won't make that mistake again. I even got brave and went down the water slide, ok it was the one that Ryker does, maybe next time I will try the one that Canon goes down all by himself (or maybe not). Today was a good day, and Ryker is continuing to do awesome with the potty training. He has kept his underware dry even through nap the past couple days!

What its August?

OK I don't have a calendar; I knew it was August- but the 6Th already, really! The past week of no blogging I am sure at least my mom would like a new post (love you). NO Picture this is so unlike me and I will find some time later to fix this but for now I will just tell about the week.
I feel happy lately, really happy, weird I know, not tired pessimistic and grumpy. Now that’s exaggerating I am a happy person but I just feel super energized and happier now. At first I thought it was the affects of the Oreo truffles I made and ate all by myself within a day (the recipe uses a whole package of Oreo's) but that was last weekend. Or it could be the fact that we are settled, the past year or two really has been difficult from pregnancy and premature baby stress and Travis's job loss and the money stress, living like gypsies for a while and on and on. I feel like a new person and I like it. Honestly I think this new found optimism is from moving, which is always a good chance to reinvent yourself and try harder. Being more active in church really striving to live they way I know is right makes a big difference in attitude too. But you don't have to move or wait for New Year's to make changes, it's a daily choice. With that said Satan is really trying to crush my new can do attitude. For example I had to get a new drivers license, my Utah one expired right before the move and I didn't know. Getting a new drivers license in Texas requires a written test a road test, your car needs to be registered in this state first and hours of waiting in lines, I had to wait in line outside the building at 7:30 in the morning for them to open at 8 because I tried going last week at about 8 stood in line for 2 hours just to do the written test and by then all the spots for the road tests was filled for the day. So this past Monday just to do the road test I was at the DMV from 7:30 to 3 can you believe that-when people complain about the DMV this is what they are talking about, also they only accept cash or check and no you cannot make an apt to avoid the line. I might post the picture on my driver’s license later-just for a laugh I was talking so my mouth is open, wow great picture.
Another "exciting" first experience I had was a run in with FIRE ants. Now I have had my share of mosquito bites-they itch so bad you want to rip the affected appendage off and throw it across the room...well fire ant bites put things into perspective. First the bite stings, when it happens you look down and see that your feet are covered in angry ants so you dance around brushing off the ants till you get away from the mound. Then when the shock wares off you can start to make a guess at how many bites you got, the stinging pain does not stop, it feels itchy too. A few hours later the pustules show up and you can count them to see if you were right with your guess. Now I only had 18 across my toes I had guessed more so I guess that means I am a winner in that game. Your skin is itchy and tight, tender and painful. The kids step on my feet a lot and wearing shoes hurt too, so for my road test I put on thick socks and sneakers and did ok, and that was one week from getting the bites. Now a few more days later the puss has gone away and they don't hurt anymore but the "scars" from what I have read, will last a month. I am so glad it was me and not the kids! I was talking to someone at church Sunday and her grandchild had a horrible experience with fire ants a few years ago and was hospitalized she was just a little one year old, poor baby.
I have had a lot of good things going on too. I am potty training Ryker and that is going very well. When I am serious about getting one of my kids potty trained I put them in under ware and no more diapers ever again I do put him in a pull up for bed (and I will use a diaper at night if I don't have any pull ups I just attach the tabs and pull em up so that it doesn't seem like a diaper). Canon potty trained extremely fast and easy, I thought Ryker would have trouble and it would take forever, but yesterday was the one week mark and he kept his under ware dry all day and would tell me every time he needed to go potty. So far today is the same...I hope this keeps up. Since we are potty training hard core we are staying home and I am really enjoying the change the boys are behaving better and I feel less stressed. Travis is so busy at work it's crazy. I am so proud of how fast he has learned his job. He is only 2 months in (with no previous sales experience) and on their national leader board for his mad selling skills. He thinks it’s less impressive than I do because it only compares him to other stores that have the same volume- um silly that still counts if you compare your store that sells $10,000 in a day to one that does $2000 that's not really a comparison of skill of course your number would be higher, so ya it counts for something babe! His big boss was in his store checking to see if he was ready for the operational manager training that they are putting together a list for. Travis's store manager said he needs to be on the list, now that's a good complement. We will see what happens.
